The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party is set to root out its rebelling Secretary General Ababu Namwamba.
According to a report by the Sunday Nation (June, 26) the party will hold a National Executive Committee (NEC) in the coming weeks to initiate disciplinary proceedings against him for disregarding party organs by going public with his grievances.

If the rebelling SG will be found guilty of going against the party interests, he will be forced to resign from his position.
ODM, it is said, will likely replace the Budalangi MP with Nominated Senator Agnes Zani as the Secretary General.
There’s no love lost between Zani and Namwamba as it will be remembered the two faced off in the February 28, 2014 ODM elections at Kasarani which was characterised by chaos.

On Saturday, June 25, Namwamba reportedly responded to the claims of his ejection saying being the party Secretary General was not a matter of life and death to him.
Namwamba said: “The position of SG is really not a life-and-death matter for me. I have previously served my party superbly without any official portfolio. Indeed, I would rather be an ordinary member in an ODM that remains faithful to the high ideals that brought us together in the first place than be SG where fidelity to the social democratic philosophy that binds us becomes doubtful.”
It is not just Namwamba who has found himself in that precarious position as several other seniour party leaders are also being accused of gross misconduct, absence of duty and other violations that go against the party.
But Ababu faces more grievous accusations for his public criticism of party leader Raila Odinga and Chairman John Mbadi.

Just a few days ago, several Luhya MPs from Western Kenya led by Ababu Namwamba lashed out at Raila and Mbadi for bullying them and visiting the areas they represent without informing them.
Namwamba has been under intense pressure to quit ODM with the party insiders accusing him of being a Jubilee mole.
