Dandora Music is a group of young, passionate, energetic, creative and talented Hip-Hop artists from the suburbs of Nairobi city-Dandora which is a high-density slum containing the largest dump site in East Africa. The group comprises of 5 boys and 1 girl under the leadership of Francis Demesi also known as Franso Kenya and Chris Oyola, their musical journey began in the year 2012 after successfully graduating from Dandora Music School as the first students to graduate from the music school, they formed a group and called themselves “Dandora Music.” Dandora Music became the youngest Kenyan Musicians to be certified but MTV affiliated Vevo beating rapper and femcee Wangechi who was certified at 16 years old and have won the Turkish Cultural Center Friendship Award after creating a video on caring for the environment and protecting a community’s natural resources. It is clear this group sings with purpose, inspired by the locales and day to day live they sing to inspire and preserve our heritage. Just as the norm they are here once again and this time round the bring with them a strong message to help protect out elephants that get porched and reduced in numbers by the day in their latest project titled Save Our Elephants- A hip hop track appealing to the greedy of ivory to stop this inhumane act. The video itself demonstrates the message intended to be passed around, several youths are seem with banners bearing the message “Stop Porching Our Elephants” and the location of shooting was somewhere in a game reserve. The video which is part of their Earthists project – A project that aims to send young boys and girls back to school through music by Dandora Music… The audio was produced by Kanyeria and the video directed by Ondivow.
