Deputy President William Ruto has asked the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) co-principal and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula to leave the opposition and join the Jubilee government ahead of the 2017 general election.
Ruto was speaking during the burial of Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama’s mother on Saturday, June 25, where he said the region’s development will be achieved by working together.

“Some time back I was in the opposition and Senator Wetangula was in the government but it seems roles were switched and I am now in the government and he is in the Opposition where there are so many doubts of the candidate, party to vie in and such,” Ruto stated as quoted by the Star.
The DP added: “Whatever he is trying I did several years ago and it is for the good of the people that he makes up his mind.”
Wetangula is hoping to battle it out with the other principals – Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka – to be Cord’s presidential candidate in the forthcoming polls.
Back in April, Ruto condemned the chaos witnessed in Kakamega during Wetang’ula’s presidential launch.

According to him, what happened in Kakamega was embarrassing.
Ruto said that all Kenyans have the right to vie for any seats and do meetings at any place of their choice and at any time.
“What we saw in Kakamega is immoral and not in line with God’s teachings. As we head into the 2017 elections, all of us as a nation must reject leadership or politics that is based on confusion, violence and hatred,” said Ruto.
