Why Akothee cancelled her wedding in the last minute

Kenya’s self-proclaimed richest musician – Akothee – is definitely one unique soul, there’s none like her this side of the Sahara. She just cancelled her wedding plans, literally in the very last minutes. November 5, would have seen the ‘Yuko Moyoni’ singer walk down the isle, she had announced to the whole world earlier in the year of her intention to wed on the day. A select group of family members and top celebrities were supposed to be enjoying themselves in what had been anticipated to be the wedding of the decade. Methinks the announcement which was made before she released the her above mentioned song was just a publicity stunt. The title of the song made the whole wedding thing suspect from the word go. But in case it wasn’t, as Tuko notes, then it is a huge embarrassment to the mzungu sponsor that was supposed to wed the controversial songbird. Akothee while on Larry Madowo show – the Trend – on Friday, November 4, said she wanted to concentrate on her music career and was no longer in a hurry to have a ring put on it. “I’ve got so much on my hands. I come first. A man doesn’t give me conditions,” she ranted. Akothee also revealed that she was having serious differences with her fiancee who felt that music was taking too much of her time. She also denied claims that her man was a ‘sponsor’ [moneyed old men who chase after lazy young women], adding that she met him about two years ago when she was already rich.
