Uhuru's Warning to Kuria and Hate Speech Suspects.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has finally spoken in regard to the detention of eight lawmakers at different police stations over hate speech. During an interview with Kenyan journalists in Belgium, President Kenyatta stated that the country would not be divided along tribal lines by leaders purporting to exercise democracy. Uhuru added that those inciting Kenyans would face the law irrespective of the positions they held. “Those individuals inciting Kenyans will face the full hand of the law, irrespective of who they are. If we want to exercise democracy let us do so on the basis of political agenda but never again on tribe or religion ,” he stated. The Head of State hit out at the leaders defending and demanding the release of the eight hate speech suspects stating: “When you claim that your Constitutional rights or those of others are being violated, it is also prudent that you read the Constitution.” The President spoke moments after CORD leader Raila Odinga demanded the release of detained MPs within the next 24 hours failure to which there would be 'consequences'. The Opposition chiefs addressed the media after being denied a chance to see three of their legislators held at Pangani Police Station.
